Now in its 14th year, IHOP’s National Pancake Day helps raise money for charity, including Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Traditionally, more than four million free flapjacks are served during this event, which IHOP began holding in observance of Fat Tuesday. The Tuesday before Lent has traditionally marked the beginning of fasting before Easter. Milk and egg products were forbidden. To use up those ingredients, household cooks often made heaping stacks of pancakes. IHOP continues that tradition today, with an additional focus on charitable giving. IHOP has raised more than $23 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since joining as a partner in 2006.
How to get your free stack
On National Pancake Day, IHOP locations across the United States and Canada invite guests to enjoy a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Guests are invited to make a donation to their local hospital while at the restaurant. All donations made at area IHOP’s stay local. n 2020, visitors are expected to top 2019’s $3 million dollar record at IHOP’s nationwide.
