Miracle Monday Story: Braylin McMullin

As part of our “Monday Miracle Story” series, we will introduce you to some amazing UC Davis Children’s Hospital patients, both past and present. Their families graciously agreed to share their journeys to help underscore the importance of donating to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals so critical treatments, health care services, pediatric medical equipment, research and education can continue.

Braylin McMullin is a real life superhero who fought her way back from E. coli.

When Braylin McMullin was 3 years old, everything changed. She was diagnosed with E. coli. Her kidneys had begun to shut down and emergency surgery was required. Braylin had to have her large intestine removed. That was just the beginning.

Braylin spent almost a month in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at UC Davis Children’s Hospital battling liver and pancreas problems. She was then moved to the pediatrics unit for another month and a half where she was treated for an infection and began her rigorous physical therapy. Braylin had been through so much already, but then some good news.

Braylin’s ultimate diagnosis was Hemolytic Umeric Syndrome, a condition that affects the blood and blood vessels. She is on dialysis to survive, but thanks to new at-home dialysis, it’s a whole new world for Braylin.

Meet her and hear her miracle story.

How donations help kids like Braylin: Children’s Miracle Network donations help fund UC Davis Children’s Hospital facilities like the Children’s Surgery Center where world-renowned pediatric surgeons at UC Davis Children’s Hospital provide expert surgical care, treating a wide range of congenital and acquired conditions in infants, children and adolescents.
