Spirit Halloween won’t have tricks, but they have plenty of treats in store for UC Davis Children’s Hospital patients this Halloween season.

The specialty retail store will host a Halloween party for the children in the hospital and their siblings this month, offering free costumes, crafts and entertainment. Donations to Spirit of Children stay within local communities, with 100 percent of funds raised going to the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department.

Spirit Halloween raises money in stores and online to support the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, which helps to minimize the anxiety of hospitalization, increase understanding and strengthen coping skills for children. The donations to UC Davis Children’s Hospital provide training and supervision for individuals aspiring to be certified child life specialists. In 2018, the stores donated $61,025 to UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department.
