Fritz’s Battle with Leukemia

B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Diagnosis

“We truly felt like we were living our worst nightmare. However, the (UC Davis Children’s Hospital) team of nurses, doctors, care coordinators and Child Life team (a team who helps minimize the anxiety of hospitalization through music and art for pediatric patients) instantly made us feel right at home,” said Anna Stark. “Our family now includes UC Davis Health.”

“UC Davis provided us with a comprehensive, start to finish, approach with our treatment plan for our son,” said Anna. “The patient scheduling teams do a wonderful job of ensuring we never have issues. They schedule infusion appointments around Fritz’s naptime, which may seem like a minor accommodation, but for Fritz, it’s helped him stay healthy.”

“We’ve truned this devastating, scary diagnosis into the most rewarding journey of our life,” said Anna. “We have been awarded this life and have accepted this challenge, but allow the tears to fall when they may, and try our best to make this a uniting experience.”
