Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club share a basic belief – that every child deserves the chance to live better. That’s why, since 1987, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) to raise funds for local, nonprofit children’s hospitals.

A big corporation with a big heart

As a big corporate sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis, Wal-Mart has demonstrated they have big hearts when it comes to raising money for the kids. Associates step up to the plate every year and host numerous fundraising events during the campaign and make “the ask” of every customer coming through their register line.

Since 1987, they have raised more than $870 million for the 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the nation. Locally, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores raised nearly $700,000 of the $42 million national CMN total in 2015.

During our recent kick-off celebration, it was apparent that there was competition in the air to see which store could raise the most money. But what was most evident was the camaraderie in the room – everyone showed a strong commitment to help others succeed during this year’s campaign.

“Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club associates play a significant role in raising funds for our hospital,” said Jacquelyn Kay-Mills, director of development at Children’s Miracle Network at UC Davis. “We are in awe of their commitment to helping kids at UC Davis Children’s Hospital through their in-store fundraising campaigns. They clearly understand how every donation helps improve the lives of sick and injured kids in their communities. We are so grateful.”

Celebrate successes

No matter how you look at it, everyone comes out a winner when they are helping kids and families in need. Sam’s Club on Power Inn Road in Sacramento was named the #1 Sam’s Club store for raising the most money for Children’s Miracle Network in the country during its 2015 campaign. The Sam’s Club in Yuba City was also in the Top 5 Sam’s Clubs in the country, coming in at #4 and raising $38,135.95 for UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Fifteen stores also joined the $10K club in 2015 by raising more than $10,000 during the six-week campaign.
