Federal regulations for the Early Intervention Program for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities (commonly referred to as Part C of IDEA) require states to “ensure a smooth transition of children receiving early intervention services to preschool or other appropriate services”. California is experiencing an unprecedented budget crisis.  Early intervention services for young children are in jeopardy.  Current budget cut proposals will make it harder for children with special needs to qualify for services, or potentially, eliminate some services altogether.

Please contact your Legislators and encourage the families that you work with to contact their Legislators.  We need to tell our Legislators why these services are important and what they mean to the children and families of California.  Read the rest of this entry »
